Well, I hope everyone had as good a Memorial Day weekend as we did. We didn't go anywhere, but we still had fun. Saturday we went down to the lake for the Kite Festival. It was super foggy at first, but then it was perfect weather. Get this: I even got a little red!! Hooray! Color! We had a little picnic and just had fun watching the kites and the kids trying to fly theirs.
Sunday was HOT! Like, really hot. Awesome. Usually Sundays are filled with dread that tomorrow is another work or school day, but since Monday was a holiday, it was relaxed and fun. We just hung out and played around on Google Maps. We "walked" up the Las Vegas Strip, "walked" to the Balboa Pier, and found the Hollywood Sign. Nerdy, I know, but it was fun.
Yesterday was the perfect Memorial Day. We slept in, then went to the pool. It was super hot, and the water was soooo nice. Not freezing, just refreshing. I got more color, and it felt like we weren't in Wisconsin at all. Loved it! Later we had a BBQ with out Kohl's/BYU friends. That was a lot of fun. We ate, played volleyball, just hung out. After we cleaned up, we got ice cream. Yummmmm. Perfect day.
Today I cleaned the house. Finally. Did ALL the laundry. Organized the closets. I actually felt like I did something today. The temp agency lady was still out when I called today so still no job. I did apply to a couple online. OHH! Check this out: I applied to a post on Craigslist to a personal assistant job, and the guy emailed me back and said my resume was excellent, and could I please send a picture. WTF??? I emailed back and asked if a picture was really necessary. He replied no, and when could I come for an interview. That was the last of our correspondence. Creeeeepy. Oh, and this was all taking place at 1am late Friday night. Um, no.
It's really hot in here. Just fyi.

I feel like I have been less than productive this week. I still don't have a job, my house still isn't clean. I did get a call about a job today but since I was going back to school in the fall full time they didn't want me. So sad. They were going to train me as an ophthalmic technician. Would have been pretty cool. So, back to the drawing board.

Will work for shoes
What a weekend. Felt like I was exhausted the entire time. We got into Erie Friday night at 2:15am. I drove the entire time--there AND back. Derrick said it's my family, and my car, so I had to drive. Actually, I didn't mind. I like driving. Plus, he's blind as a bat at night anyway.
The party was fun--my Grandma was totally surprised. In fact, she was mad at my Grandpa for not having a party at all. They only went to dinner with my parents and my aunts and uncles. So it was awesome when she walked in and saw everyone waiting for her.
Here's a pic of the entire family. Well, minus 2 cousins and a spouse that couldn't make it. Oh, and my cousin's husband who got cut out of the picture on the very right. Ha.

Total number=33. That included all my cousins and their kids. Which sounds pretty impressive until I compare it to Derrick's IMMEDIATE family-just his siblings and their kids--no cousins or aunts or uncles or anything--and they total 31. Makes our 33 seem puny!!
Here's my familiy minus my brother, who I'm sure was off annoying the hell out of someone somewhere. Way to go mom, for ruining a perfectly good picture.

Now I'm back. No job. No school. Watching all my Tivo from this weekend. I slept till 11. Awesome. Now I gotta get some work done around here. Can't be a bum forever! If you know of a job--hook a sista up!

Happy Friday!!
I've been running around all morning getting ready for our trip to PA. I gassed up, checked my fluids, put air in my tires, and got a manicure. :) Which I proceeded to botch trying to rip the IPass off of Derrick's car. They call it "velcro", but I've never met velcro that strong. I mean, it's not even the black stuff, it's this clear plastic stuff. Definitely NOT velcro.
So awhile back I found 2 iTrips at Goodwill for 99 cents each. Normally they're like 20-30 bucks in the store! Score! It worked for a couple weeks or so, and then died. So sad. But today I actually installed the software read the directions and wouldn't you know, it works now! Perfect for the trip! I was really sad that I wouldn't have Ike to keep me company on the 9 hour drive. It's no biggie with Derrick's car b/c he has a tape deck and we just use the adapter. I rented Yours, Mine, and Ours to watch on the way out. I had heard it was cute, so hopefully it's good. Because I still have a bad taste in my mouth from Stick It which needs to be replaced by a good movie.
A guy moved in next door today. There were a couple guys moving in who were super hot, and I was hoping it was them. But no, they were just the movers. :( I did meet the new guy, Jeremy. He's probably our age, so that's cool. Not bad looking either. Hey, doesn't hurt to have good-looking neighbors!
Only one of my grades is posted yet, the A-, and I'm desperate to know what the rest are. Too bad I'm leaving for the weekend to the technological wasteland known as My Relatives' House. It's a miracle they even have email. Well, some of them do. Forget about DSL though. Good thing my trusty friends have my login info and will check for me! Last night at my celebratory dinner at PF Changs (yummmmmmm) Derrick said if I had a blackberry I would check my email constantly. Probably true. It would be all over for me if I had one of those bad boys. I WANT ONE!!!
Hopefully this trip is a good one. First time we drove out there it took us 8 hours to get to South Bend (normally a 3 hour drive). Second time I got a speeding ticket. Please! No incidents this time!!!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

D-U-N DONE!
I am sooooo done with finals!!!!! What a relief!! They all went pretty well. So far I only know 1 official final grade, an A, and I think I'm pending one more A and an A-. Not too shabby! All I want to do now is knit. Is that crazy? I haven't even touched a needle since January, and I'm havin' major withdrawals. I was planning on making my lil bro an afghan for his high school graduation, but I honestly don't know if I'll have time. Graduation is June 22. Less than a month...But hey, it's not like I have a job as of this moment...what else am I going to do??? Knit, knit, knit my days away. Sigh. Anyway, I can't believe I finished my first semester of nursing school. It went by sooo fast. And if I must say, I rocked it. Hopefully the other 3 semesters go just as smoothly as this one did.
Yesterday was Lindsey's birthday so Lindsay and I took her to lunch and to see Stick It. In case you're considering seeing it (and I doubt you are)...save your money. Please. I was hoping it would be more like Bring It On, which I think it was sorta billed to be, but it wasn't. I wasn't a cheerleader, but I loved Bring It On. I think you had to be a gymnast to really like Stick It. Soooo not as funny as Bring It On. Plus, you can really tell the girls in the movie really are gymnasts b/c the acting was really bad. Bonus birthday present for Lindsey--she got engaged last night! Congrats, Linds! Can't wait for the wedding!
On the plus side, I finally found matching red polos for Derrick and I for our family pictures at the beach. Well, they're not quite exactly the same color, but darn close enough. I'm just glad I don't have to keep looking.
I cried last night. Why? Elliot was voted of American Idol. He was the best. Such a stud.
But hooray for the Hippies who won on The Amazing Race! I loved those guys!
RANT:
I hate people who are late. I hate being late. Being late sucks, and is extremely inconsiderate. Because really, there is no excuse, save accidents or loss of limb or life, to be late. I am late 95% of the time. And I hate that.
Oh, the sun came out. I saw it for a minute. What a great day!

Randomness
One final down, 4 to go. Today's wasn't all that bad. I rocked the extra credit, so I'm not too worried.
It has yet to stop raining. Enough already!
Still sick. It's not going away. Probably b/c I'm up super late every night instead of sleeping. Get a clue, Karen!
Went to dinner with friends last night. I was super bitchy, so if you were a victim of my bitchiness, I apologize. In my defense, I was starving, sick, and had a huge headache. No excuse really, but that's all I got.
Keane has a new album coming out June 20--I'm super pumped about it. It will prolly be the first CD I have actually bought in oh....forever. I'm still bitter about missing them at Summerfest this year.
I've noticed a few things about myself recently. One, I'm not really a germaphobe. Yeah, I wash my hands after I pee and before I eat and stuff, but I'm not obsessive about them. I have a friend who IS a germ freak, and while I love her dearly, I always feel dirty compared to her whenever she's around. I guess I figure that's what our immune systems are for. Another thing I've noticed is that I'm an impatient driver. Having had 2 people follow me this week, I had to make sure I was slow enough so they didn't get lost, stay in my lane behind really slow people, and pretty much drive like an old person. I hated it!!
I was watching a classic episode of Southpark last night, Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo, and came to the realization that it's probably the funniest show on TV. I'd rival you to think of one that even comes close. I laugh out loud regularly watching it. Hilarious.
Tomorrow's Mother's Day, and although my mom doesn't read this or even knows it exists (I think...), I figure I should say something about her. We are finally on speaking terms again, and she's even coming out to visit in July. I'm seeing the whoel fam damily this coming weekend at the Grandparents' 50th Anniversary Gala in Erie, so that should be fun. I'm always apprehensive to see my family. I feel like we don't really know each other anymore-we've both changed. I wonder if things will ever be like they used to be. Still, I love my mom and she really has done a lot for me and our family growing up. So, props to mom, and moms everywhere.
Screw you guys, I'm going home! Talking poo is where I draw the line!--Eric Cartman

Mountains of mucus.....ewwww
Tomorrow is the last day of class! Hooray! Finals start on Saturday, which of course means what? Yup. I'm sick. Just like every finals' week. This totally sucks, because I really need to be studying. But my head feels like it's going to explode.
So yesterday I was watching Oprah with my friend. Lance Armstrong's ex-wife was on and it was all about how much marriage sucks, and that it's really just a big conspiracy. Whatever! I realized I don't really like Oprah that much. I really only started watching it b/c my Sisters-in-law watched it and always talked about it and I wanted to be "in". Forget it. If Oprah doesn't like you, she's pretty rude to you on her show. And this marriage bashing was just the icing on the cake. Goodbye Oprah. Sayonara. I still like Dr. Phil tho. He keeps it real.
WARNING: AMERICAN IDOL SPOILER AHEAD
So I'm totally in love with Elliot, and I was sooo scared he would be voted off tonite. But I was totallys shocked when Ryan just blurted out "Chris you're going home tonite". Just like that. And that's all it was. Crazy. I really thought he was going to win. But that just means Elliot is cloer to winning!
Can I Just tell you how in love I am with H&M? Super cute, super cheap clothes. I would spend my ever dime there if I could. I need a job just so I can shop more!
Ok, I'm spent. Time for bed. I'm D-E-D dead.

Wonder no more
So, let's pretend you're in Sephora, and you are racking your brain trying to think of things to buy me. Let me make it easy for you:

Lip Fusion gloss in "Sweet". Loooove it! I have the DuWop Lip Venom, which works, but stings like none other. This stuff feels great on, and plumps my puny "lips", if you could even call them that.
Next up:

Tarte cheek stain in "Flush". This stuff is awesome. Gives a nice dewey glow without looking goopy or fake.
So there you go. You know, just in case. ;)

Put title here
Just a quick post before I head to bed...
Today I had to take this peformance test at school, and we've been freaking out about it for weeks. You have to pick a scenario out of an envelope and then do it in front of an instructor. The scenario could be from anything we've learned the whole year. So yeah, we were nervous. I picked a patient transfer, which was pretty easy, and I passed. I really didn't have anything to worry about, but of course I did. Anyway, now that that's over, I don't have any tests until finals. And now I'm done everyday around noon, so really, I should be spending a lot more time studying....
I've gotten lots of compliments on my hair, but I think that's just something people say when you get a new haircut. No one is going to say to you "wow, that new 'do of yours blows. sucks to be you." The weirdest part of getting your hair lopped off is washing it. Where did it all go?, my hands wonder as it lathers it all up.
Chicago on Saturday was fun. We went to the Shedd Aquarium, which was ok, but I was underwhelmed. I have been to better aquariums. For cheaper. Still, I saw a paddlefish, which I have never heard of nor seen in my entire life. Very weird creature. Like a platypus and fish mix. I mean, look at this thing:

It rained the whole afternoon, which was lame. That annoying constant drizzle. Kevin took us to dinner at Wildfire, which was AMAZING. Holy crap, I have never tasted beef so delicious in my life. They have these crusts that they put on top of their steaks. I got the filet trio sampler with blue cheese, parmesean, and horseradish crusts. Mmmmm....I can still taste them...Honestly, if you're ever near one, you should go. You won't regret it.
So I was super excited to see Tommy, and I called him after dinner to meet up and he said he wasn't coming downtown. What a loser. He was staying in Glenview which was on the way home so I said I could stop by and say hi and he blew me off and said he would be getting ready and they were going to dinner. What??? Are you really telling me that we're 20 miles away and you're not going to see me? What the hell? I was so pissed. So now I really want to know why the change of heart at the last minute. If his friends talked him out of it somehow, what a spineless dick. He better have a really good reason. Can you tell I'm still pissed? He said he'd "talk to me later", but have I heard from him yet? No. Why am I so mad about this? I have no idea.
Grrrrr.....
