Find of the day

This super awesome photo of Scott (on the right) on his mission, which he sent to Derrick while on his mission. Awww....tender.

Uncharacteristic

I'm not what you would consider "politically savvy". Sure, I have my opinions, but really, I feel unqualified to have a really in-depth conversation about politics. Don't worry, I've researched the issues and I know who I'll be voting for, so I'm an educated citizen, which is more than I can say about these people....

And check out this new product:

Hmm...who am I voting for??? ;)

I just can't wait for this to all be over. I'm sick of political commercials, I'm sick of Prop 8, I want non-political SNL's back.

K.A.D.D.

The other night I was driving home from work and I was following a big truck that was all over the road. I went to pass him and looked over and he was totally out of it. He suddenly sped up so I got back behind him and wrote down his plates. Then he moves over and I go to pass him and he cuts into my lane, causing me to swerve into the shoulder to avoid being hit. I honked at him, which seemed to wake him up, and he got off at the next exit. But I was pissed. I called 911 and reported him. Am I a tattle-tale? Yes. Do I care? No. I hope they caught him. Drunk drivers are complete morons and wastes of space.

Cha Cha!

My new favorite phone trick: Cha Cha!

Chris told me about this handy little text trick. You ask a question, any question, and send it to 242242 (chacha) and someone is sitting around ready and waiting to look up your question and then text you back. Pretty quick, too. It's like having a friend at home at the ready to google something for you when you're out and about. I love it. You will too.

Speaking of texting, I was sending a text the other day and Derrick looked over at me and asked, "Who are textually molesting now?" For some reason that cracked me up. It just seemed to roll off his tongue. Of course, now I refer to all texting as textually molesting.

Give it up for Tampa Bay!

Let's hear it for the Devil Rays D-Rays Rays!

They'll always be the Devil Rays to me. They were the first MLB game I went to. I was there when Wade Boggs hit his 3,000th hit. And even though I may not follow them super close, they'll always hold a special place in my little baseball heart.

I was hoping the Brewers would make it all the way, too. When they were in the playoffs, the city was nuts. It was pretty exciting, actually. Everyone was pro-Brewers. We had tickets to games 3 and 4, but we couldn't go. Bummer, huh?

I'm pretty happy the Phillies made it though...they did their spring training in Clearwater, where I went to high school! So if I had a second favorite team, it would be them. Every spring our marching band would park cars at the field where they practiced, and then we'd get to watch the games for free. It was pretty sweet. So for 4 years I watch the Phillies practice. We even had the Clearwater Phillies minor league team...except now I think they're the Thrashers. Lame.

Anyway....I know this is boring. But essentially what it means is that I'll be watching the World Series more this year than in years past. Which I'm sure will make Derrick so proud.

Trip to Zion

We went to Provo this past weekend...Saturday through Wednesday. Like any trip, but especially to Provo, it was fattening and fun. Derrick was recruiting for Kohl's, and I tagged along. He worked, I shopped. We got into town just in time to catch the Homecoming game, which was fa-reezing, but it didn't snow or rain like we thought it would so all was good. And we won. Double bonus.

Highlights, by category:

FOOD:
  • Tucano's
  • Sonic (x2)
  • Burger Supreme
  • Teriyaki Styx
  • Cafe Rio
  • Sconecutter
  • Wingshak
  • Jamba Juice
PEOPLE:
  • Gardner Family, All Around Incredible Family who spoils us silly
  • Scott, whose place we crashed for two nights
  • Antony, who lost to me in bowling
  • Maika, old roomie extraordinaire
  • Chris, First-time Chicago Marathoner Champion
  • Hannah & Johanna, past Laurels now BYU freshmen
  • Gerardo, newly engaged fellow beaner friend who I met in a random class
  • Spencer and Nikki, New Parents to adorable Miles
  • Derrick's dad, Grandma, and cousins in Salt Lake
SHOPPING:
  • Deseret Book (Hooray for Lion House Rolls!)
  • Church Distribution Center (Books)
  • The Quilted Bear (Seriously, Utahns are just so much more creative than midwesterners)
  • BYU Bookstore (Baby BYU cheerleader outfit!! Too cute!!!)
Overall, it was a fab trip. I've decided that Provo is an excellent place to visit, but I don't think I'd live there if I weren't a student.

Till next time, Provo!

She's crafty, she gets around

I used leftover fabric from my nursing cover and whipped up a diaper wipe cover. A little hot glue and some batting and voila! It doesn't really close very well...not sure what the deal is. And these little suckers are hard to find--the travel wipes aren't by the regular wipes. I had to find them in the travel bins at Target.

Last week I bought a dresser off of Craigslist for $25 and repainted it black. The man at Home Depot was super helpful and set me up with the right paint and supplies.

After:

I have since put on new knobs on the top drawer. I debated drilling holes in the other drawers, but I'm thinking I don't want to now. We'll throw a changing pad on top and call it good.

And now it matches our brand new crib! We opted for just a crib, and not a 4 in 1. Because really, if we have kids close to each other, like we want, then the only kid who will really benefit from all 4 is the last one. And who knows if it'll even last that long. Still, I love this crib, and I put it together all by myself! (And my back paid for it later that night.)

Very crazy that these pieces of furniture are in our apartment, and not going anywhere soon. But very exciting! 3 months to go!

Reason #864

There are a million reasons why I love GoMusic.ru. Here's just one more.

Keane's new album comes out this Tuesday, and you can pre-order it for $12.99 on stinky old iTunes.

I bought it yesterday on GoMusic for $1.47.

Holla!

The Perfect Meal

Derrick and I had an in depth conversation over dinner one night about what our perfect meal would be, with different courses from different restaurants. It took a lot of thought, but we finally created it. And then we realized we eat out way too much, and think about food way more than the average person does. Or should.

Drink: Strawberry Lemonade (Cheesecake Factory)
Bread: Cheesecake factory brown bread
Appetizers: Jumbo shrimp cocktail (Eddie Martini's), Avocado Egg Rolls (Cheesecake Factory)
Salad: Spinach Salad with Warm Bacon Dressing (Capital Grille)
Main Course: Petite Filet, medium (Fleming's) with Baked Potato Crust (Wildfire)
Sides: Creamed Corn (Eddie Martini's), Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes (Fleming's)
Dessert: Chocolate Lava Cake (Fleming's)

Mmmmmm.....now I'm hungry!

More yearbook action

Derrick wanted in on the Yearbook Yourself fun, so we did it last night. We were cracking up. My favorite is '76. Love the flowing locks! And let's just hope we never see a Derrick a la 1998!!

Thus endeth the weddings

In the past year or so, we've been to 7 weddings, 4 of which I've stood up in. That's a lot of weddings!

Last weekend was my friend Whitney's from school:

And yesterday was Lindsey's, which I was in. It was a loooong day, but the wedding was really fun, and the food was really good. What more can you ask for out of a wedding? I felt super lame, but I was soooo tired--and it's really hard to shake your booty with a belly...it kind of hurts actually--so we left pretty early...around 10:45pm. Overall it was a great day, and I couldn't be happier for Lindsey and Matt! (And yes, I had to wear a tank under my dress to cover up my boobies.)

So...if you're in need of a bridesmaid dress, let me know! I have four! Worn only once!

And the above pictured red. Any takers?

Seriously so lame

So I tried reading "Seriously So Blessed", the blog everyone else seems to be reading and linking to their blogs. Are you guys kidding me? It is awful! For one, it's so poorly written...but then, I can't stand to read things that are misspelled or have bad grammar. I only read a couple posts, but I was already so sick of hearing about her "hot feti".

I don't get the hype. I didn't even spend the time and effort to link it here. Am I the only one who thinks her blog blows?

Yearbook fun

This is the most fun I've had online in awhile. I found it on Yearbook Yourself. Pretty funny stuff.

Awesome, huh? I think I look like my mom in the '76 picture. Crazy! Ok, I wanna see your pictures now!

The enlightening photo class that never was

Well, we're 2 weeks into our photo class so far. I wish I could tell you I've learned something yet....but I can't. This week's class entailed of everyone setting the date and time on their cameras. Uh....yeah. One lady couldn't figure hers out...turns out she had set the language to Arabic or something.

Here is a sampling of some of the questions/statements made in class:
"What's a memory card again?"
"You mean I need to carry extra batteries with me?"
and my favorite...
"Do I have to turn my camera on to get to the menu?"

Next week, we are going to actually start taking pictures!! Gasp! Luckily Linda is taking it with me, and we can whisper and pretty much keep ourselves entertained. (Oh, and Linda, you were right...I BAWLED watching ER last night!!!)

Speaking of crying, I did a lot of that yesterday. Overall, I have a pretty sweet job. I love it. I never really have any cause to complain. But yesterday I pretty much got shat on. Combine that with the fact that I was tired, and apparently hormonal, I just lost it. I called Derrick to vent, and he wound up telling me something that upset me even more and I couldn't even talk, I had to hang up, hide in an empty room, and bawl my eyes out. Of course, then I had to answer call lights with bright red eyes and a red nose. Sexy. And after I cry, I get suuuuuper tired. So then I felt like crap the rest of the day, look like crap the rest of the day, and hear about how bad I look from my coworkers. If I worked on a crappy unit, I don't think I'd last very long!

On a happier note, we are going to Utah next week! This all happened soo fast! Derrick is going out to recruit for Kohl's and I get to tag along! We're going to the game, which happens to be Homecoming, and we'll get to see Derrick's dad, who we haven't seen since before he left on his mission with his wife. So, if you're in Provo/Salt Lake and you want to meet up, let me know!
